Welcome to Family & Consumer Sciences
You've found the department with opportunities for you to improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities- while working in a field you love.
Family and Consumer Sciences is a discipline that combines aspects of social and natural sciences and views the family in all its diverse forms as the cornerstone of a healthy society. Our mission is to improve the well-being of the family through programs that educate, influence public policy, and help families put research-based knowledge to work in their lives. The field represents many disciplines including nutrition, food service, early childhood, family studies, sexual well-being, human development, textiles, apparel design and merchandising.
Whether you pursue a degree in child & family studies, nutrition and dietetics, family & consumer sciences education, or apparel design & merchandising, you will learn through vibrant programs led by faculty who enjoy teaching.
