EKU Dietetic Internship Program

Mission
The mission of the Dietetic Internship is to prepare nutrition professionals who improve the quality of individual, family and community life.

 

Goals and Outcomes

Goal 1

The DI will prepare qualified entry-level registered dietitians capable of providing comprehensive food and nutrition service in a variety of settings.


Outcome 1.1
DI preceptors will complete evaluations for interns in clinical, foodservice, community, and specialty rotations. Interns will be rated adequate or above in all categories.

Outcome 1.2
Over a 5 year period, the program will maintain a first time pass rate of 80% for the registration examination.*

Outcome 1.3
Over a 5 year period, 90% of interns who start the program will complete the program within 150% of the program length.

Outcome 1.4
Over a five-year period, 70% or more of DI graduates who sought employment in dietetics will be employed within three months of program completion.
Outcome 1.5
Employers will rate graduates at or above average in all categories of the employer survey.

Outcome 1.6
Alumni will indicate satisfaction with preparation during the program by agreeing or strongly agree with all statements on the alumni survey.

Outcome 1.7
DI preceptors will complete evaluations for interns in clinical, foodservice, and community. Interns will be rated “proficient” or “exceptional” for 75% of competencies.

Outcome 1.8
Interns will agree or strongly agree with all statements of the survey administered upon completion of rotation experiences as an evaluation of their experiences.

 
Goal 2

The DI will prepare entry level Registered Dietitians with proficiency for developing, implementing and assessing community nutrition services across the lifecycle.


Outcome 2.1
DI preceptors will complete evaluations of community rotations. Interns will be rated “proficient” or “exceptional” in 100% of community emphasis competencies.

Outcome 2.2
Interns will present their Community Nutrition Assessment and Evaluation as completed during the community rotation. Interns will achieve the rating of “exceed expectations” on at least 50% of evaluation categories.
